about

"Born Distorted" is a lower to mid-fi album filled with sloppy production and generally dark and bizarre songs. Recorded on a variety of equipment ranging from 4-track cassette to 18-track digital and even a laptop, tracks were often shuffled from one machine to another until Lxnnnie was satisfied or fed-up with the outcome. Retaining an audibly xeroxed feel, this collection is a grimy example of the artist's ominous side, overflowing with gnarly beats and menacing lyrics. From the "You shouldn't have fucked with me" vibe of "Black Majick Carpet Ride" to the depressingly honest "Killing the Swan Song", the album runs the gamut of shitty, dirty, creepy and plain old jacked-up subjects. Some of the more notable material includes: "Racing the Dragon"- a lackadaisical bouncy number about a self-inflicted DXM overdose; "212 Blues"- a true story about an old man named Ed O'Doyle that Lxnnnie met in a group home and spent a considerable amount of time with; "It's Too Blustery For Friends"- a blown-out folky blues tune in which a once cherished relationship with a best friend is lost forever; The caterpillar stomp of "I Like Bugs" and the retardedly silly "Jon Bon Jovi", a short rhyme in which Lxnnnie displays his un-waning hatred for the subject. As strange as this album is, mistakes and all, it seems to be one of his more popular efforts. Perhaps fans of lo-fi or modern avant-garde find the twisted wreckage found here charming in some strange fashion. Overall, Lxnnnie's very original and signature schizodelic style is present in "Born Distorted" and the album pans out to be a muddy, mucky, dirty and definitely distorted experience for anyone whose ever spent a few nights in the junkyard or eaten a few bugs.
